The Year of Faith---renew your relationship with Christ

The Year of Faith starts today!  What is the Year of Faith?  My friend Grace does a great job explaining the year of faith at Our Catholic Life.  One thing is for sure, the year of faith is definitely a chance to renew our relationship with Christ and his Church.

I wanted to share some resources that can help us all to renew our relationship with Christ in the year of faith.
  1. Obviously, The Year of Faith-Vatican Website has tons of information and resources.  They even include a list of event for the year of faith.
  2. Sign up for the Faith in Action at catholicyearoffaith.com.  The website includes great authors; Danielle Bean, Jeff Cavins, Teresa Tomeo and many more.  Make sure you check it out.
  3. The Daughters of St. Paul have a website called JClub which has great resources for families with young children.  You can also sign up for a monthly newsletter for the year of faith.
  4. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has great resources for the year of faith for everyone.
  5. I also came across this article about Plenary Indulgences for the year of faith.
I hope these resources are helpful.  If you have any additional resources for the year of faith, please share.

I would like to end this post with the words of Pope Benedict XVI in regards to praying the Rosary during the Year of Faith.

"As we too spiritually unite ourselves to that choral invocation, I would like to invite everyone to cherish the Rosary during the forthcoming Year of Faith. With the Rosary, in fact, we allow ourselves to be guided by Mary, the model of faith, in meditating upon the mysteries of Christ, and day after day we are helped to assimilate the Gospel so that it can shape our lives. Therefore, in the wake of my predecessors, and in particular Blessed John Paul II who ten years ago gave us his Apostolic Letter 'Rosarium Virginis Mariae', I invite people to pray the Rosary individually, in the family and in the community, placing themselves in the school of Mary who leads us to Christ, the living centre of our faith".

  4. Dear Lisette

Our parish has a group studying a manageable chunk of the Catechism of the Catholic Church each week, and then summaries of the discussions are posted online.

Firstly we talk about what we learned and which truths surprised us. Then we talk about memories of Grace related to that part of the Catechism. The last part looks at pictures to illustrate the truths of the catechism and looks at some of the background references given in the Catechism.

Having begun with that part of the Catechism which deals with the Sacraments we are all learning heaps and growing in Faith at the same time. To have a read, or to contribute to the discussion, visit www.ofgraceandfaith.blogspot.com

  5. Wow! This is wonderful. What a blessing to have this group study at your parish. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) is a wonderful tool to help us enrich and deepen our understanding of our faith. Thank you so much Catherine for sharing. God bless.
